This large mixed media piece was created using watercolor, acrylic, ink, fabric, and paper. The flower designs were inspired by lacework. The blue is representative of water. The artist includes bees in the work after having been chased by several carpenter bees down the stairs of her apartment complex. Bumble bees are an endangered species. Because of their size, they are often mistaken for carpenter bees. However, Bumble bees are large, furry, and actually quite friendly. They often don’t mind being picked up and love to play with round stones as though they were balls.
